Description
The Gun Inn is a public house and restaurant that was originally built as three cottages. The datestone indicates it was constructed in 1781, with the cottages dating to a similar period, although there have been additions to the rear from the 19th and 20th centuries. The building features coursed rubble and hammer-dressed stone, with a brick addition from the 19th century and roofs made of graduated stone slate and slate.
The structure consists of three bays and three stories for the cottages, while the original pub is two bays and two stories, with a two-story brick wing at the rear. The pub has 19th-century window openings on the ground floor, with splayed quoins from the same period. On the first floor, there are two flat-faced stone mullion windows, along with two gargoyle-like features, nine roundel features, and a gable stack. The right gable also has similar roundels and a 20th-century porch. Each of the three former cottages has a blocked door with a carved stone panel above it, and there is a three-light flat-faced stone mullion window on each floor in the first bay, while the other bays feature four-light windows on each floor. The interior has been significantly altered.
