Description
Arrowscroft House is a house built around 1820, constructed of Flemish bond brick with ashlar dressings and a slate roof. It features a double-depth central-staircase plan, two storeys high, with a small wing at the rear left. The façade has three bays with an ashlar plinth, a first-floor band, an eaves cornice with a blocking course, a hipped roof, and four chimney stacks. The entrance includes an 8-panel door with a Regency style elliptical overlight and side panels, topped by a tetrastyle Ionic canopy. The first and third bays are slightly advanced and contain 15-pane sash windows on the ground floor and 12-pane sash windows on the first floor, all with cambered brick arches and stone sills. The central first-floor window mirrors this style but has a moulded surround. Inside, the outer entrance hall features an enriched plaster ceiling and a screen leading to the inner hall, which has an ornate elliptical fanlight. There is a dogleg stair with timber barleysugar balusters, and other rooms boast ornate plaster cornices and original fireplaces.
