Description
Gatley Hall is a house built in the mid-18th century for William or Thomas Roscoe, and it was restored in 1972. The structure is made of Flemish bond brick with ashlar dressings and features a slate roof. It has a double-depth, four-bay plan with a two-storey wing at the rear, which was originally constructed as a cotton manufactory.
The first, second, and fourth bays have restored tripartite sash windows on each floor, complete with stone sills and flat brick arches. The third bay features a six-panel door with a decorated fanlight, flanked by three-quarter columns and topped with an open pediment, along with a sash window above. The building has a dentilled eaves cornice, a hipped roof, and two large brick chimney stacks. Additionally, there is an arched stair window at the rear and a three-bay wing that includes cambered arch casement windows.
