Description

Sharston Mount is a farmhouse, now a house, dating from around 1800, though it incorporates fabric from an earlier period. It is constructed of stucco over brick, with a slate roof. The building has a double-depth, double-fronted plan and rear extensions. The main façade has three windows and is symmetrical. A central doorway is topped by an Ionic porch, with a panelled door featuring glazed, round-headed upper panels. Flanking the door are 19th-century canted bay windows. The first floor has sash windows with exposed window boxes, containing 16, 12, and 16 panes respectively. The eaves are ornamented with wooden modillions. A small, leaded casement window sits in the left gable’s attic. An interior inspection in 1974 revealed a 17th-century staircase with turned balusters.
