Description

The Church of St Thomas is a parish church built between 1829 and 1831 by architects Francis Godwin and Richard Lane. It is constructed with ashlar stone and features a low pitched roof that is not visible. The church is designed in the Commissioners Gothic style and includes a west tower, a nave with two aisles, and a chancel.

The three-stage tower is flanked by projecting porches on either side. It has a west door with a hoodmould and a three-light window above it. There is also a clock and a three-light opening for the bell chamber. The tower is adorned with polygonal angle pilasters, an embattled parapet, and pinnacles.

The nave consists of five bays, each featuring a three-light Decorated window. It has a string course, a plinth, and an embattled parapet. The east walls of the aisles have blind windows, while the chancel has a single lancet window on both the north and south walls. The east window is a wide Perpendicular six-light window with a transom, and there are polygonal buttresses on either side of the chancel. The interior has not been inspected.
