Description

This is a row of five houses located at 8-12 Middle Newgate, Littleborough. They were built in the early 19th century. The houses are constructed from hammer-dressed watershot stone with a graduated stone slate roof, partially covered with 20th-century tiles. Each house is two rooms deep and has one bay and two storeys. Number 8 is a separate build and was originally a back-to-back property. Quoins are present. Each house features a door with a square-cut stone surround, a five-light ground floor window (except for number 8, which has a three-light window), and a five-light first-floor window (originally with seven lights). All windows have flat-faced stone mullions. The ridge chimney stacks were rebuilt in the 20th century. Similar windows are found on the left gable and rear of the houses, while a 20th-century window is found in the right gable.
