Description
Dixon Green Farmhouse, now incorporating a cottage, dates back to 1685, as indicated by the inscription "I M : 1685" on the door lintel, although it has undergone alterations in the 18th century. The building is constructed of squared rubble and features a graduated stone slate roof. It consists of three bays and two storeys, with an adjoining barn to the left under a continuous roof. Notable architectural features include a projecting plinth, quoins, and a door in the second bay with a dressed surround and dated lintel. There is an original two-light chamfered mullion window to the left, although the mullion has been removed. The remaining windows are of 18th-century design, featuring two or four lights, with several mullions removed and recessed flat-faced mullions. The ridge chimney stack has been rebuilt in brick. At the rear, there is a small 20th-century addition and blocked windows. The barn has opposed cart entries, with the front entry blocked, and includes an outshut to the rear that is partly rebuilt, showing signs of the eaves having been raised.
