Description
Cockleshell Cottage is a house dated 1747, as indicated by the datestone above the door. It is constructed of hammer-dressed watershot stone, which is now painted, and features a graduated stone slate roof. The building has a 2-unit plan with two storeys and includes a slightly later wing set back to the right. It has quoins and a variety of window styles, including three, four, and two-light ground floor windows, as well as two four-light first floor windows. Most of the double-chamfered cavetto-moulded mullions have been removed, and a later window has been inserted between two of the ground floor windows. There is a lean-to garage on the left gable with more altered windows above. The entrance wing to the right features a dressed door surround and has three and four-light windows, with the majority of the mullions missing. The house is topped with ridge and gable chimney stacks.
