Description
A group of six cottages, numbers 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10 Doctor Lane, Saddleworth, dating to the early 19th century. They are constructed of hammer-dressed watershot stone with a graduated stone slate roof. The cottages are arranged in a row, each being two storeys high and one bay wide. Each cottage features a square-cut door surround. Windows are recessed and mullioned, with 3, 5, or 6 lights on each floor. Bay 6 projects forward. Shaped eaves gutter brackets are present, along with ridge chimney stacks. The rear elevation has 1, 2, 3, and 4-light windows. A 20th-century extension is set against the left-hand gable, which has a rendered finish. The group includes the building at 1257 Oldham Road, on the north side.
