Description
No. 16 St Ann's Square is a town house that has been converted into a shop. It was probably built in the late 18th century and has undergone alterations. The building is made of orange brick with sandstone dressings, and its roof is not visible. It has a rectangular plan that runs at right angles to the street and consists of four storeys with three windows arranged symmetrically.
Notable features include a deep moulded sill-band at the second floor, a string course above the third floor, and a prominent moulded cornice. The ground floor has a 20th-century shopfront. The windows are 12-pane sashed, with the first and second floors featuring tall windows, while the third floor has shorter ones. The central window on the first floor is adorned with a large moulded architrave and a cornice supported by consoles, while the other windows have flat-arched heads. There are chimneys on the side walls. The rear and interior of the building were not inspected. This property is included for its group value.
