Description

Minshull House is a grey warehouse that has been converted into offices. It was built in the mid to late 19th century and has undergone alterations. The ground floor features painted sandstone ashlar, while the upper levels are constructed of red brick in Flemish bond with sandstone dressings, topped with a slate roof. The building has a rectangular plan on a corner site, with a splayed corner and a loading bay at the rear.

Designed in a simplified palazzo style, Minshull House stands five storeys tall with a basement and has eight windows plus one at the corner. The basement and left corner are banded, and there is a band over the ground floor along with a moulded cornice. The basement openings are now blocked, while the ground floor has segmental-headed windows with altered glazing. The upper floors feature sashed windows without glazing bars, with those on the first floor having stone lintels, and the others displaying flat-arched heads and raised sills. Tie-plates are present at the second and third floors.

The corner entrance consists of a segmental-headed doorway framed by a moulded architrave with a keystone, flanked by pilasters that bear worn lettering stating "MANUFACTURERS AND PRINTERS." Above this entrance is a segmental-headed window with a saw-tooth arch-band and a stone cornice over the third floor. The right-hand return to Bloom Street has six bays that mirror the principal facade, while the left return to Richmond Street is plain and regular, featuring sashed windows with flat-arched heads, although the front bay's windows are blind. The rear of the building includes a full-height loading slot in the centre, complete with a hoist canopy.

The building forms a group with No.11 Bloom Street to the rear, No.8 Minshull Street to the right, and the City Police Courts opposite.
