Merchants' warehouse (with No.47 to right, q.v.), now clothing wholesalers' premises. Mid to later C19. Red brick in Flemish bond (now painted white at ground floor) with some sandstone dressings, slate roof. Narrow rectangular plan on corner site. Basement and 2+2 storeys, with 3-window front to Dale Street and 10-window side to Tariff Street; low plinth, modillioned 3-course sill-band to 2nd floor, bracketed eaves, and unusual set-back polychrome-patterned parapet. The front has a round-headed doorway to the right with an architrave composed of brick pilasters with prominent stone imposts and a modillioned segmental cornice also of stone; the windows of the basement and first 2 floors are set in segmental-headed vertical recesses, those to the basement blocked, those above segmental-headed with altered glazing at ground floor and 4-pane sashes at 1st floor; the upper floors have 4-pane sashes with gauged brick heads. The 10-bay north side to Tariff Street has matching fenestration. Interior not inspected. Included for group value.
