Description

The Travis grave slab is located in the churchyard of the Church of St Mary. It is made of sandstone and has a rectangular shape with incised carving. At the foot of the slab, there is a simple incised scroll. The original inscription states, "Here Resteth the Body of John Travis who died February 3rd 1675." Below this, there are additional inscriptions for various members of the Bowker family who passed away between 1720 and 1800.
