Description
This is a terrace of six houses located on Fourth Street in Bolton, built around 1830. They are constructed from coursed and squared stone with a slate roof. The terrace presents an eleven-window front, comprising five double-pile houses of single unit width, and a single-depth house of two units width facing Bazley Street. The houses face west. The principal doorways feature moulded architraves topped with an entablature hood, while the rear doorways have simpler architraves. All windows are replacements within original openings and have flat arched heads. Brick and stone chimneys rise from the ridge. The interior was not inspected. This terrace is part of the model village of Barrow Bridge, established around 1831 by Robert Gardner to serve the nearby Dean Mills complex, which he also built.
