Description

This is a terrace of six houses located on Fourth Street, part of the model village of Barrow Bridge, which was established around 1831 by Robert Gardner to serve the nearby Dean Mills complex, also built by him. The houses date to around 1830 and are constructed from coursed and squared stone, topped with a slate roof.

The terrace has a symmetrical eleven-window facade, representing five single-depth, double-pile dwellings, with a two-unit, single-range dwelling set in the gable facing Bazley Street. The houses face west. The main doorways have moulded architraves with an entablature hood, while the rear doorways are situated in simpler architraves. All windows are replacements, set within the original openings and featuring flat arched heads. Brick and stone ridge chimneys are present. The interior has not been inspected.
