Description
Westhoughton Church of England Primary School is a school built in 1861. It is constructed of brick with stone dressings and has a slate roof. The building is one storey high and consists of eight bays, with lean-to bays on the returns. The fifth bay is larger and features a gable. The windows are three-light segmental pointed with tracery heads, and the fourth bay's window serves as an overlight to the plain entrance. The fifth bay has a five-light pointed window with a hood mould. The exterior includes weathered buttresses and coped gables. The lean-to bays have segmental-pointed heads at the entrance, flanked by lights under hood moulds, with the left side labeled 'BOYS' and the right side labeled 'GIRLS'. The gable-end stacks have canted angles. Inside, the school features laminated cruck trusses and purlins. The building is included for its group value.
