Description

Swallows Barn is a former barn and cow house dating to the 17th century, with later alterations. The building is constructed of brick with stone dressings and a stone slate roof. It has four bays. The barn entrance features stone jambs and later timber infill, with ventilation slots to one side. A cow house is situated to the left, with an entrance flanked by windows, all having wedge lintels. A stable is present, with a granary above, accessed by steps to the return. The rear of the building includes later lean-to sheds and a barn entrance with doors. Inside the barn, there are two collar and tie-beam trusses, alongside a single king-post truss. The cow house retains some partitions and a rear feeding passage.
