Description

The canal aqueduct over the River Douglas, built around 1800, is likely the work of John Rennie. It is constructed from stone and features a single span that is approximately 40 feet high, supported by a semicircular arch with plain voussoirs and a parapet. The side walls and concave abutments are rusticated and include a moulded cornice. The sloped retaining walls of the embankment are made of plain tooled stone blocks.
