Description

This is an early 17th-century farmhouse, now a house. The structure is brick built on a stone plinth, with stone dressings and a slate roof. It features a ridge chimney stack and an external chimney at the right end. The farmhouse follows a baffle-entry plan with projecting crosswings and a gabled stair turret, the latter being flush with the gable of the right wing. The front of the building has stone mullioned windows with splayed reveals and hoodmoulds. The left gable has 3 lights at ground floor and 4 lights above. The centre has a single light above the door, and 3 lights on each floor to the right. The stair turret contains a 2-light window, while the right wing has a 5-light ground floor window and a doorway with a glazed porch, with a 2-light and a 4-light window above. Side walls incorporate similar windows, including a 5-light window on the first floor of the left side. A projecting, single-storey gabled porch is situated in the angle of a rear wing, and all windows here have been altered. Inside, there are ¼ round moulded beams, an inglenook with a bressumer, and a spiral newel staircase.
