Description
The Old School House, dated 1815, is a former school and house now functioning as a single residence. It is constructed of coursed squared sandstone with stone quoins and a stone slate roof, featuring one brick chimney on the left gable and two on the right gable. The building has a square plan with two rooms on each floor and stands two storeys tall with a symmetrical façade.
At the centre of the front, there are two adjacent round-headed doorways with plain jambs and small keystones, which have blocked fanlights above. Each side of the doorways has one round-headed casement window at ground level, while ordinary casements are located above them on the first floor. A rectangular stone tablet with incised lettering is positioned in the centre of the first floor, stating: "This School for pious and useful learning Was built by voluntary subscription In the Year of our Lord 1815 R.P.B."
The left half of the building served as the school, while the right half was the master's house. The left gable wall features two round-headed casement windows on each floor, and both gable walls have a tall arched recess at the first floor, which is now rendered. The rear wall includes a round-headed window at ground level on the left half, three additional casement windows, and a modern glazed porch.
