Description
Bewsey Old Hall Farmhouse is a former farmhouse, attached to the west side of Bewsey Old Hall, dating from the mid to late 18th century, with alterations likely made in the mid 19th century. The building is constructed of brown brick, featuring English garden wall bond on the south front and Flemish bond on the north. It has a grey slate roof with one gable chimney and one ridge chimney, both from the 19th century, each equipped with three separated diagonal flues.
The south front is two storeys high and includes three main windows, which are 4-pane, 2-light designs set under slightly cambered skewback heads. There is also a half-glazed early 20th-century door framed in a stone shouldered architrave.
On the west end, there is a two-storey lean-to built of English garden wall bond brick, which has a blocked doorway with an oak lintel on the south side, and two 2-light, 4-pane sash windows along with a boarded door, all set under arched skewback heads on the west side. The rear (north) elevation features three windows on each storey, with five of these having three lights and six panes. Additionally, there is a blocked window opening of vertical proportions at the east end of each storey.
Inside, there is a basket-arched opening with a moulded timber case in the hall, and a doorway with a shouldered architrave leading to the right front room. The farmhouse is listed for its group value only.
