The police station and courts, built between 1899 and 1900 by R Burns Dick, is a two-storey structure made of pink brick and yellow sandstone. It features moulded brick architraves that are blocked with stone and adorned with keystones. The building includes oriel windows and two octagonal turrets topped with domed metal pavilions, which are supported by metal columns. A Tuscan porch is present, along with an aedile between the storeys and an egg and dart cornice. The design incorporates both round and pointed gables, decorated with shields and swags. The entrances are Tuscan and have round arches, and the interior includes iron stair balusters.
