Description

The entrance gates, piers, and lamps at the Town Hall were built in 1750 by Gibbs and were formerly part of Bank Hall, the residence of the Patten family. Pevsner described it as the "finest house of its date in South Lancashire." The structure is designed in the Palladian style and has three storeys with rusticated stone facing on red brick. It features a hipped slate roof, a brick parapet, and a stone cornice with modillions. The main front has a slight central projection supported by four and three-quarter Corinthian columns.
