Description

Moore Lane Bridge is a swing bridge over the Manchester Ship Canal, built around 1894. It features a steel segmental arched riveted structure with a lattice parapet, built-up stanchions, cross braces, and bracing across the carriageway at a high level. The bridge is operated from the north bank using hydraulic water power, similar to the Old Quay Bridge in Runcorn, and has a comparable arrangement of support buildings made of red brick with slate hipped roofs. The north end of the bridge is located in the Penketh civil parish.
