Description
21 Bold Street is a mid-19th century building located at the corner of Suez Street. It is constructed of brick with stone dressings and features a top cornice with modillions and a wall-plate. The building has two storeys and a symmetrical front, with the centre section projecting forward. This section includes a square entrance flanked by Ionic columns and pilasters, a frieze, a cornice, and a fanlight above steps. On the ground floor, there are two large 12-paned sash windows set in moulded architraves with cornices on decorated brackets. The upper floor has three 9-paned sash windows in moulded architraves, with the centre window featuring a cornice. The left-hand return side facing Suez Street has six windows on each floor, with relief carvings of beasts inset in the wall.
This building is part of a group that includes Nos 12, 9 to 21 (odd), the Museum and Art Gallery, No 10 Egypt Street, all the listed buildings in Palmyra Square, Nos 3 to 13 (odd) Springfield Street, and Nos 13 and 15 Suez Street.
