Description
2 and 4 Mead Road is a late 17th-century building that was originally three small cottages, although two of the units have been converted into a single dwelling. The structure is made of small bricks and features later cement rendering, topped with a slate roof that has diminished courses and a sandstone ridge. The west cottage is two stories with one bay, while the other has two bays due to the combination of the units. The building retains old, ledged and battened doors set in heavy oak frames with strap hinges. The smaller cottage has three light horizontal sliding sash windows, while the other has three-light later casements. Three chimney stacks are still present. Inside, there are bevelled oak beams and exposed oak purlins.
