Description

Stocks Bank and Lilac Cottage are a pair of semi-detached cottages dating from the mid to late 19th century, situated in Huxley Lane, Tiverton. The cottages are built with English garden wall bond brickwork and have a plain tile roof. The front elevation presents a mirror image of the two cottages. The left-hand cottage features a door slightly left of centre, with a shallow, pointed arch over the head. To the left of the door is a two-light casement window, and above it a three-light casement window. To the right of the door is a projecting gabled bay with three-light casement windows on both the ground and first floors, and a timber-framed gable above. A central ridge stack serves both cottages. All windows have decorative glazing bars creating a honeycomb pattern of hexagons. These are characteristic cottages of the Peckforton estate.
