Description
The tombchest of William Briscoe, who died in 1704, is located 5 meters south-west of the priest's door to St Michael's Church. It dates from 1764 and is made of buff sandstone in ashlar style. The tombchest is rectangular and sits on a chamfered plinth. It features two fielded panels on the long sides and one on the short sides. The top slab has a cyma-moulded cornice and is inscribed in good serifed letters, which become smaller for later family members. This tombchest is situated immediately next to that of his father.
