Description
Church Cottage and its attached outbuildings are a farmhouse and farm buildings that date partly from the late 17th century, with extensions from the 18th and early 19th centuries, and internal alterations from the 20th century. The building is constructed of orange brick in a variety of bonding patterns, with the oldest section resting on a stone plinth. It has a Welsh slate roof, while the shippon features corrugated asbestos. The house is two stories tall and has three bays, with a brick band at part of the first floor. It features two-light wooden casements with stone sills and slightly arched brick heads. A 20th-century door is located at the left end, also with a similar arch. To the left of the house is a former stable that has a rebated basket-arched doorway with a stable door and a line of ventilation slots above. To the right is an added shippon with a simple door and window. The interior has been significantly altered but retains some heavy ceiling beams. A circular pitch hole remains between the house and stable, along with the remains of a brick oven that is now hidden. The building is listed for its group value only.
