Description

Stone Cottage, along with an attached outbuilding and boundary wall, dates from the early to mid-19th century. It is constructed from red sandstone ashlar and has a concrete tile roof, featuring one stone and one brick chimney. The building is two storeys high with a four-bay front that is symmetrical. The house has 20th-century, two-light wooden casements set beneath heavy lintels, which show faint channelling. There is a semi-circular headed doorcase with moulded imposts, containing a blocked fanlight and a partly glazed door, which is accessed by three stone steps. To the right of the house is a lower shippon with a central board door that has strap hinges, approached by two stone steps. Attached to the right end of the shippon is a lean-to roof covered with Welsh slate. A tall stone wall with rounded coping extends from this lean-to to form the boundary with Manor Farm.
