Description
Grangelane Farmhouse is a farmhouse built in the earlier 18th century, with extensions added in the early 19th century and in 1865. The structure is made of brown brick in Flemish garden wall bond, with orange brick extensions in English garden wall bond. It features a hipped roof covered with graduated Welsh slate and has two ridge brick chimneys. The farmhouse has an L-shaped plan and is two stories tall with an attic, presenting a nearly symmetrical three-bay front. There are brick bands at both the first and second floors. The front consists of two different builds. The windows are three-light casements with glazing bars, set under segmental brick heads. In the center, there is a pair of glazed doors also under a similar brick head. The left side of the building has similar windows and three blocked openings. A date stone inscribed with "1865" and a copperplate monogram reading "RJC" can be found on this side of the wall. Inside, the original section features heavy chamfered ceiling beams, a mid-19th century staircase with turned balusters, and several doors with six fielded panels.
