Description

The tomb slab of John Egerton is located in St Peter's churchyard, 5 metres south of the southeast corner of the nave. This slightly raised tomb slab dates from 1652 and is made of stone. It features moulded edges and has an inscription on the top that reads: "HERE LYETH THE BODY OF JOHN EGERTON O... OF THE SO... OF SER RICHARD EGERTON OF RIDLE (Ridley) KNIGHT WHO DIED AUGUST 1652: WELCOME DEATH."
