Description

Ashfield Farmhouse and the attached farm building to the northeast date from the mid-18th century, with some alterations made in the 20th century. The farmhouse is constructed of brick, featuring a front with whitened rendering and a rear that is roughcast, complemented by smooth stucco surrounds to the openings. It has a stone plinth and a slate roof with two whitened stacks. The farmhouse is two storeys high, with a basement and attic, and has a four-bay front. The entrance features a six-panel door with bead and flush lower panels and raised and fielded upper panels, set within an externally moulded doorcase that includes an overlight. The windows are recessed sashes with glazing bars, wedge lintels, and stone sills on the ground floor, with a sillband on the first floor. At the rear, there is another six-panel door and sash windows.

The attached farm building is a single storey with a loft and consists of four bays. It has three doors and three windows on the ground floor, while the loft features three round pitching eyes and breathers arranged in diamond patterns. Inside the farmhouse, there is a stone flagged hall floor, six-panel doors throughout, and a simple ceiling cornice. The staircase includes stick balusters, and the landing has a concave front. The interior of the farm building was not inspected.
