Description

Moorside House is an early 18th-century house located on Parkgate Road, Neston. It is constructed of brown brick in Flemish bond, with a stone plinth, doorcase, and eaves cornice. The roof is slate, with brick end stacks to both ranges. The house has a three-story, four-bay front elevation. A flight of four steps leads to the front door, which is an eight-panel design set within an eared doorcase featuring panelled reveals and a shell hood. The windows are six-over-six sash windows with exposed weight boxes, painted stone sills, and channelled wedge lintels with keyblocks. A moulded eaves cornice is surmounted by a low solid parapet.

The interior features an entrance hall with mahogany six-panel doors and a festoon-based cornice. A dog-leg staircase has a curtail step, cut and bracketed string, wreathed handrail, and dado panelling on all floors. The dining room also has dado panelling. Dado moulds are present in the bedrooms, with pilasters flanking the mantels in the front range. Wooden ceiling cornices are above fireplace openings and above Six-panel doors of flanking cupboards. Six-panel doors with lugged architraves are fitted with rising HL-hinges. Wrought-iron railings are a notable subsidiary feature.
