Description

Vine House is a mid-18th century town house located on Parkgate Road, Neston. The house is constructed of red brick in a Flemish bond pattern, with painted stone dressings, and has a slate roof with brick end stacks. The front of the building has a projecting plinth and features a four-window arrangement. A six-panel door is centrally located, set within an eared doorcase with panelled reveals and a moulded cornice supported by cantilever brackets. The ground and first floors have six-pane sash windows, some potentially original, with exposed weight boxes, brick sills, and gauged brick arches. The attic has a large vertical sundial flanked by converted top-hung windows. Pilasters rise from the ground floor to support a moulded cornice at attic level, topped with a plain eaves parapet and moulded coping.

Inside, there is an open newel staircase with a curtail step, cut and bracketed strings, and a wreathed handrail. The entrance hall has three-quarter height panelling, while the dining room features dado panelling. Doors throughout the house are four-panelled. One first-floor room contains a mantel with festoons, a roundel, and dentil details. Original oak floor boarding remains in the house, and the windows have shutters. The property has undergone alterations in the 20th century.
