Description
10 Parkgate Road is a house dated 1744, with 20th-century alterations. It is built of brown brick in Flemish bond, with the ground floor of the street front whitewashed. The roof is slate, featuring brick coping and kneelers.
The building has two storeys, a semi-basement, and an attic, with a single bay gable end facing the road. The entrance is located on the right side. The front features an enlarged 20th-century window in the basement, while the ground and first floors have old sash windows with exposed weight boxes beneath cambered wedge arches. In the attic, there is a two-light casement window. The right side has seven steps leading up to a 20th-century replacement door, with a basement door below. There are projecting two-course brick bands at the first and attic floor levels that return across the gable end. A tablet on the first floor of the right side bears the date 1744.
Inside, there are old four-panel doors at three levels, an inglenook firebeam, and exposed chamfered softwood beams at three levels. The house features two flights of stairs with winders.
