Description
Weaver's Bridge is a Grade II listed single span bridge built in 1795 over the Shropshire Union Canal in Ellesmere Port and Neston. Designed under the supervision of engineer Thomas Telford, the bridge features a three-centre arch that has settled significantly, supported by battered abutments and curved in plan. At road level, there are two courses of curving brick bands. The bridge has flush chamfered sandstone copings, although one stone is missing. There is some decay in the brickwork, and the parapet walls have been rebuilt using hard red brick. Additionally, yellow stone quoins are present at the base of the west abutment.
