Description

Hawthorne Cottage is a 17th-century cottage, significantly altered in the 19th and 20th centuries. It is constructed of whitened random rubble sandstone with a brick stack and a slate roof, and includes a painted brick extension. The cottage has a single-storey, 4-bay front, with a single-storey extension featuring a pent roof. The extension has 20th-century casement windows and a multi-panel door, while the original front has two 2-light casement windows. The rear of the cottage features horizontal sliding sashes and 2-light flush casements. Internally, the cottage retains exposed beams and boarded replacement doors.
