Description

The Rocklands is a farmhouse and former farm building located in Little Neston Village. The farm building dates back to the 17th century, while the house was built in the mid-18th century with some alterations made in the 19th century. In the late 20th century, the house was extended and converted to incorporate the farm building, resulting in a single private dwelling.

The house is constructed of brown brick in English garden wall bond, set on a painted stone plinth, and features a slate roof with brick end stacks. The former farm building is made of coursed rubble stone. The exterior of the house has a two-storey, three-bay front with a single-storey gabled porch extension in the center. To the right, there is a single-storey, two-window extension that links to the former farm building at the rear. The porch door is glazed and has a radial glazed fanlight. The windows are recessed unequal 3/2 sashes with stone sills and deep lintels. On the first floor, the windows flank an oval tablet that is recessed in the center and inscribed with "The White House." Above this is a datestone, likely reset, inscribed with "T B M," dated 1700, and featuring a heart motif. There is a raised and cogged first-floor band and a projecting eaves band that both return across the left gable end.

At the rear, the former farm building has a tall four-light window inserted in the gable end. Inside, there is a firebeam with a billet mould, a cove and beaded front, chamfered ceiling beams, and four-panel doors. The former farm building features curved purlins and a cross beam.
