Description
Nos. 3 and 4 The Green are a pair of estate cottages built in 1844 for George Walmesley. They are constructed from buff sandstone ashlar and feature a Welsh slate roof with a central brick chimney. The cottages are two stories tall with a symmetrical, four-bay front. They have a chamfered plinth and raised quoins between the main bays. The central two bays project slightly forward and are topped with a triangular gable that has bulbous coping. Each cottage has three-light stone mullioned windows with label moulds. The gables include square panels featuring a shield within a quatrefoil design. The end bays are equipped with porches that have 4-centred arched entrances and half-glazed doors behind. High coped stone walls connect these cottages to Nos. 1 and 2, as well as No. 5.
