Description
No. 5 The Green is an estate cottage built in 1844 for George Walmesley, with 20th-century alterations to the windows. The cottage is constructed of buff sandstone ashlar and features a corrugated iron roof and two brick chimneys. It has an L-shaped plan and is two stories tall with a three-bay front. The building has a chamfered plinth and raised quoins. The left end bay projects and is topped with a barge-boarded and traceried gable, which includes two horizontally hinged windows beneath label moulds. The central bay features a projecting chamfered porch with a four-centred arch and a lancet window on the side. The right end bay has similar windows, with the lower one also situated beneath a label mould. This cottage is listed for its group value.
