Description

The Town Farm Farmhouse is a mid-18th century farmhouse, altered and extended since its original construction. It is built of brown brick and stone, with a slate roof, a stone plinth partly on natural rock, and features cellars. The two-storey farmhouse has three windows, two in the main wing and one in a cross wing. The windows are timber casements with splayed brick heads and stone sills. A centrally placed door is located in the main wing. Brick stacks are situated at the rear and project from the left-hand end. A windowless stone bay at the right end formerly served as a dairy and pantry. The interior includes a double inglenook fireplace with a heavily moulded bressumer on one side, alongside bead moulded and stop-chamfered spine beams with run-out stops, and ledge and batten doors.
