Description
The table tomb of John Okell and others is located in St Peter's churchyard, 4 metres south of the west bay of the nave. This tomb, dating from 1697, is made of stone and stands on six square legs with belled-out heads. The main slab is inscribed with the words: "HERE LYETH THE BODDY OF JOHN OKELL OF SVTTEN WHICH WAS INTERRED APRIL THE 18TH DAY ANNO DOMINI 1697 AGED 51 YEARS." Below this, in smaller letters, it notes: "ELLEN DAUGHTER OF WILLIAM OKELL WIFE OF JOHN NORCROSS DIED JANUARY 10TH 1891 AGED 57 YEARS: ALSO MARY OKELL OF SUTTON WEAVER WHO DIED APRIL 24TH 1917. HER END WAS PEACE."
