Description
The well, located approximately 250 metres south of Aston Lodge in Aston by Sutton, is likely from around 1800 and constructed of red sandstone. It features a sunken barrel-vaulted wall chamber that measures about 1 metre square and 1 metre high, topped with a camber-arched lintel. Access to the well is provided by a flight of six stone steps set between retaining walls made of coursed sandstone, which have camber-topped flush copings.
