Description
This L-shaped farm building, located 15 metres southeast of Riley Bank Farmhouse, likely dates from the early 19th century. It is constructed of coursed red sandstone and features a grey slate roof, which has been partly replaced with corrugated asbestos. The building is situated on sloping ground, presenting three storeys at the front and two at the back. The front facade includes five camber-arched openings that once served as pigsties, with two replaced casement windows on the middle storey above. The rear of the main wing has two boarded doors, one of which is divided, and a small hopper window for a stable, along with a plain pitching eye leading to the hayloft. The rear wing has altered doorways that were once part of the cart-shed, and there are external stone steps against the rear gable. This building, along with the adjacent shippon, forms an attractive group.
