Description
The base and part shaft of the Roodeye Cross is a stone cross located in Chester, traditionally believed to be of Saxon origin, but more likely a boundary stone from the 13th century that marked land belonging to St Mary's Priory, which is no longer standing. The cross is made of sandstone and features a base-stone just above ground level, a low, eroded rectangular plinth, and a damaged square shaft. At one point, the cross was removed and lay beneath the City Walls, but it was reerected in its original position in 1855.
