Description
This description covers part of a Roman quay wall located opposite St Martin's Lodge in Chester. The visible section of the quay wall is part of the Deva fortress harbour and dates from the Roman period, likely from the 2nd century. It consists of up to five courses of ashlar sandstone that rise above the current ground level, situated at the base of the medieval city wall. The wall stretches approximately 35 meters in length, with an additional short section of similar wall visible at a higher level behind it. St Martin's Lodge is located on Nicholas Street in Chester.
