Description
Horton Hall is a farmhouse with origins dating back to the late 16th century. It was partly rebuilt in the early 18th century and features a new facade from the early 19th century that follows the original design, along with some alterations from the 20th century. The building is constructed of Flemish bond orange and yellow brick, partly resting on a stone base, with some timber-framing visible at the rear. It has a Welsh slate roof and brick chimneys located laterally to the crosswings and at the rear. The layout consists of a hall and crosswings, with a two-storey, five-bay east front. The end bays project forward and are topped with gables that have shaped bargeboards and pointed finials. The windows are three-light wooden casements with segmental brick heads and stone sills, with similar windows found in the second and fourth bays. A 20th-century boarded door with a plain fanlight is located in the third bay, and a single light window has been inserted to the right. A plain brick band runs along the first floor on the left side, and some timber-framing is exposed in the interior.
