Description
The garden wall on the west side of the paddock south of Peel Hall dates from the early to mid-17th century. It is constructed of red brick in English bond on a buff sandstone base, topped with sandstone triangular coping that features a bead mould. The wall stands approximately 2.2 meters high.
This wall is part of a larger boundary wall associated with a significant formal 17th-century garden, which originally included a moat, a prospect mound, and a summerhouse, although only earthworks remain today. The wall is listed for its group value.
