Description

The tomb slab of Edward and Mary Woodhouse, dating from 1718, is located 5 metres south of the central bay of the chancel in Aston by Sutton. This slightly raised stone slab features bevelled lower edges and is framed by a simple incised border. The inscription reads: "HERE LYETH THE BODY OF EDWARD WOODHOVSE LATE OF NORTON WHO DEPARTED THIS LIFE THE 8TH DAY OF MAY 1718: MARY WIFE OF THE SAID WOODHOUSE INTERRED FEBRUARY 14 17..1," along with inscriptions for other family members.
